Zarif to address US Foreign Relations Council

TEHRAN, Jul. 11 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech to the US Council on Foreign Relations on 17 July.

The announcement was made by the think tank’s website on Tuesday. According to the announcement, Foreign Minister Zarif will discuss current developments in the Middle East in a meeting presided by Richard N. Haass, the Council’s President.

Zarif is also scheduled to take part in the UN meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development in New York and hold bilateral talks with his counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting.

The political forum will convene under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council from 10 July to 19 July 2017, including the three-day ministerial meeting of the forum from 17-19 July. The theme will be "Eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world".

Zarif will be accompanied by deputy FMs Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi on this trip.
